About The Serval

A Serval is a medium sized African wild cat. It can be identified by its large rounded ears which are set quite close together, cheetah like spots, striped tail and striped legs. It can reach up to 85cm in length (including the tail) and they have been known to reach weights of up to 20Kgs. It has been desicrbed as a slender wild cat with long legs, relatively short tail and small head in proportion to the body. Servals communicate through a series of chirps. They have a life expectancy of anywhere between 12 and 20 years inhabiting most of the Savannahs (a tropical or sub tropical woodland ecosystem) of central Africa. There have also been rare sightings of Servals in mountainous areas.
